Position Summary The Housekeeping Manager will be responsible for managing the department staff so that they perform impeccable housekeeping services and provide guests with a clean environment for an exceptional stay and ensuring consistent guest service standards of the downtown boutique life-styles hotel. The Housekeeping Manager will report to the Director of Operation. King George Hotel The hotel is a vibrant boutique hotel in San Francisco's Union Square. An inviting urban retreat immersed in the culture and history of San Francisco, the historic King George Hotel is located just steps from Union Square & Giant Theaters. Unwind in modern, stylish rooms while enjoying the perfect blend of contemporary décor and vintage accents. From our central location, walk to Union Square shops, restaurants and theaters with multiple screens, or ride the cable cars to Chinatown or Fisherman's Wharf. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Adhere to the hotel guidelines and core values to ensure the health, safety and comfort of our team members and guests. Ensure housekeeping procedures and training checklists are in place, maintained and adhered to. Obtains list of vacant rooms to be cleaned immediately & list of prospective checkouts or discharges in order to prepare work assignments. Assigns housekeeping staff their duties and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness. Rewards employees who use their empowerment to meet or exceed guest expectations. Inventories cleaning supplies & linen stock to ensure adequate supplies. Issues supplies & equipment to workers. Investigates concerns regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and takes corrective action. Examines rooms and public spaces to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management. Ensures guest rooms are properly secured and that proper key control procedures are utilized by the housekeeping staff. Screens job applicants, hires new employees, and recommends promotions, transfers, or dismissals. Conducts orientation training of new employees and in-service training of other employees to explain company policies, housekeeping work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment. Attends staff meetings with other department heads to discuss company policies and patrons’ complaints, and to make recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation. Assists in controlling expenses by the housekeeping department. Other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements: Prior Supervisory experience, excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead a team and mange conflict. Prior experience in housekeeping/custodial tasks. Two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required. College course work in related field helpful. Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail. Must have effective time management skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions. Must be able to follow written and verbal instruction, work with minimal supervision and demonstrate honesty and integrity. Read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc. Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech. Speak with correct English and well-modulated voice. Must be flexible in hours and days available at work. The Essential Job Functions, Physical Requirements, and Work Environment Frequent: Sitting, standing for extended periods, walking throughout property, working on a computer, typing, filing, climbing stairs, and interacting with guests (speaking, listening, writing). Occasional: Lifting, pushing, and pulling guest luggage and property equipment up to 25 pounds. Occasional stooping and bending.
